PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT OF
FAMILY VIOLENCE AND TEENAGE PREGNANCY
Across Samar, too many children, women, and adolescents face violence, abuse, and limited access to support. This program is working side by side with communities to change that—building safer environments where young people can grow up protected, informed, and empowered.
WHAT WE DO
The Prevention and Management of Family Violence and Teenage Pregnancy Program is a community-based initiative that helps prevent gender-based violence, protect children, and support young people in making informed choices about their future.
We partner with local governments, schools, families, and youth leaders to strengthen systems that keep communities safe—and to ensure that help is accessible when it’s needed most.
WHY THIS WORK MATTERS
Many families in Samar are navigating serious challenges, including:
-
Rising cases of violence against women and children
-
Child abuse, neglect, and exploitation
-
Increasing teenage pregnancy
-
Mental health concerns among young people
-
Limited awareness of rights, protections, and available services
Without strong systems in place, these issues often go unreported or unresolved. This program helps communities recognize these challenges, respond effectively, and create lasting solutions.
HOW WE WORK
We take a hands-on, community-driven approach that brings people together and builds local capacity.
Building Awareness and Understanding
We lead sessions in communities and schools on:
-
Child rights and protection
-
Gender-based violence prevention
-
Mental health and well-being
-
Adolescent sexual and reproductive health
-
Parenting and family relationships
Strengthening Local Systems
We train and support:
-
Barangay Councils for the Protection of Children (BCPC)
-
Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) desks
-
Teachers, health workers, and community volunteers
This ensures that when problems arise, there are trained people ready to respond.
Empowering Youth and Families
We create safe spaces for:
-
Youth to speak up, lead, and advocate for their needs
-
Parents and caregivers to learn, share, and support one another

We work with local partners to monitor cases, provide guidance, and connect individuals with the services they need—from counseling to legal support.
